Basics of Charging

Our charging network

We have Electric Avenue charging stations popping up across Oregon. Find the ones closest to you and your next destination.

Your home

Charging at home is as easy as plugging your vehicle into a garage wall outlet. Want faster charging? You can upgrade your speed by installing a Level 2 charger, which uses AC power and adds 12 to 24 miles for every hour of charging.

Your neighborhood

The City of Portland and the State of Oregon have adopted goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote electric vehicles. To fuel these vehicles, we’ll need more charging options. From March 1 to December 31, 2020, we’re running a pilot project in the Clinton neighborhood to test whether EV charging on utility poles can help provide more charging options. Installing level 2 chargers on existing utility poles can help reduce the amount of infrastructure required and creates a great opportunity for residents in neighborhoods who have on-street parking but don’t have a driveway or garage for at-home charging. As a bonus, EV drivers can charge their car at these on-street charging stations for free during the pilot.

Charging costs

Whether you’re charging at home or on the go, electricity is an extremely affordable fuel source. See how well it measures up against gas.

Chargeway is an app that creates an effortless fueling experience for EV drivers. Chargeway offers an easier way to understand how and where to fuel your electric vehicles with interactive maps that identify nearby charging stations, along with those stations' corresponding charging speeds.
