Dear Oregon,

The start of a new year is always a good time to pause and reflect, as well as think about what the year ahead may hold.

At Portland General Electric, we are clear and focused on our vision to deliver a future powered by clean energy. We believe the benefits of such a future are real: we can combat climate change, improve air and water quality, and help create a more sustainable way of life. This vision isn’t just aspirational. It’s attainable and critical to Oregon’s future.

I’m proud of our progress and inspired about the opportunities ahead. Some of the highlights:

  • We are building the nation’s first-of-its-scale energy facility right here in Oregon to integrate wind and solar generation with battery storage.
  • We are partnering with customers to create new solutions to address climate change by leveraging investments in our grid with programs such as our Smart Grid Test Bed.
  • We are all in on the electrification of transportation, working aggressively to expand access to electricity as a transportation fuel for car owners and mass transit riders. Soon our Electric Avenue charging hubs will be found across our entire region.
  • We are proud that PGE customers are once again first in the nation in choosing 100 percent renewable energy for their homes and businesses.

This is what the future of renewable energy looks like.

Our priorities are to cost-effectively accelerate Oregon’s transition to clean energy and modernize the grid. We will be sharing more information with you in the months ahead about ways we can work together to be smart, clean and green.

I’m energized by what we can accomplish together. I look forward to celebrating our progress as a community, showing the nation how Oregon is leading the way forward.
