More renewables, more reliability for you
How the EIM helps us incorporate more renewable power while controlling costs and powering your day more reliably.
We’re constantly looking for ways to make your energy more reliable, affordable and clean. That’s why we’re excited about joining the western Energy Imbalance Market this fall.
The EIM is an automated system that pools electricity generation to help balance supply and demand across the West. For example, on a really cold winter day when Oregonians are cranking up the heat, California may have extra solar power to add to the grid. When we need a little extra, the EIM automatically searches the whole system to find us the lowest-cost, most clean electricity available to power your day.
Building a smarter, more interconnected western energy grid is part of our strategy to power your day reliably and affordably. Learn more about our Resource Planning.
A sustainable approach
Working with the EIM is just one example of how we embed sustainability in to our business strategy and practices. To learn more about our integrated approach that considers social, environmental and economic impacts, view our 2016 Sustainability Report.
