We’ll help you keep your cool

That’s a great question. Thanks for asking.

Q. I want to control my cooling costs. Is it better to turn air conditioning off when my business is closed, or leave it on at a higher temp all night?

A. It depends on your equipment, but, to save energy, it’s usually better to raise the temperature overnight or when your business is closed. Don’t raise it more than 10 degrees or turn cooling off completely, or your system will have to work harder — use more energy — to cool the building again the next day.

Here’s an extra energy-saving tip: If your system has an economizer, run it on cool nights when the next day is forecast to be hot. The economizer saves energy by running fans to draw in cool outside air, which gives your air conditioning a rest.
